Chicopee invites Valley to Fest of All

CHICOPEE Szot Park will be the setting for a three-day community celebration, Chicopee Fest of All, that hopes to bring together people of all ages with community leaders and city organizations.
"This 4th of July celebration is destined to become Chicopee's signature annual event with music, food and fireworks," said Mayor Michael D. Bissonnette. "We hope that our citizens will join us in this celebration."
The fun begins on June 30 with a "Community Day" that includes city police and firefighters challenging each other in a softball game. Game time is 6 p.m. Events also planned that day include a free throw contest from 5 to 7 p.m. for 6-12 graders at the basketball court. Entertainment slated throughout the day include the Check Mates from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Moose & The High Tops, 1:30 to 4 p.m., Prime Time All Stars from 4 to 6:30 p.m., and 8 to the Bar round out the day's festivities with a performance from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
"Kids Day" will be observed July 1 with festivities including the "World's Largest Kids Luau" at 1 p.m., the Garfield Show at 2:30 p.m., and family field games at 3 p.m. A three-point shoot contest for 6-12 graders is also scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. at the basketball court. In addition, Charter Communications will have an I.D. Van at the park during the day for use by families.
Also on Saturday, a road race is planned at 10 a.m., with registration beginning at 9. For a registration form to expedite the sign-in process, visit www.festofall.com. Another morning event includes a Legion baseball game at 10 and spectators are encouraged to turn out and cheer on the teams.
Bands scheduled to perform on Saturday include Union Jack, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., The Memories, 1:30 to 4 p.m., Sweet Daddy Cool Breeze, 4 to 6:30 p.m., and Brass Attack on the fireworks stage from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Saturday evening concludes in style with a spectacular fireworks display, beginning at 9:30.
The weekend celebration culminates on July 2 with an all-day lineup of events including the "Best Polish Plate Contest," a bocce tournament and a celebration of the city's senior citizens and veterans. Local entertainers bringing the three-day celebration to an exciting close include Cruisin' with the Cooners, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Millennium, 12:30 to 2 p.m., Patsy Cline Tribute, 2 to 3 p.m., Neil Diamond Salute, 3 to 4 p.m., Sinatra Salute from 4 to 5 p.m., and a Ray of Elvis from 5 to 7 p.m.
Vendors participating in Chicopee Fest of All include Bernat's Polish Deli, Chateau Provost, Cracker Barrel, Doogans Deli, EB's, Edible Arrangements, Elite Catering, Harmony Bar & Grill, Huke Lau, John's Pizza, Johnny's Bar & Grill, Luca's Pizza, Millie's Pierogi, Moo-Licious, Munich Haus, Quicky's, Red Fez Lounge and Thai Taste.
There is no admission fee to attend any of the holiday weekend events.
