Local Hero Restaurant Days highlights locally grown produceDate: 7/30/2015 GREATER SPRINGFIELD – Local Hero Restaurant Days is upon us again.
On Aug. 25 and 26, choose from 67 eating establishments to celebrate the harvest of the summer season. CISA (Community Involved in Sustaining Agriculture) works with Local Hero restaurants to help them source the best ingredients from nearby farms for the most delicious dishes around, and during Local Hero Restaurant Days, they are celebrated.
“It's so easy to eat fresh and local this summer,” Devon Whitney-Deal, Local Hero Program manager, said. “We are proud to have added thirteen new Local Hero restaurant members this year, which reflects the strength of the local food movement in the Valley. It means farmers can make a living, restaurants can find the highest quality ingredients, and customers get to taste the flavors of fresh and local.”
Aja Lippincott, Local Hero Program associate, added, “We are incredibly fortunate to live in an area where what's harvested in the morning is very often prepared and eaten only hours later. You can't get fresher food than that. Local Hero Restaurant Days helps highlight the delicious results of those strong connections.”
Local Hero Restaurant Days marks the beginning of CISA’s restaurant raffle: enjoy three meals at participating restaurants Aug. 25 to Sept. 30, and you can enter to win a wine dinner for six at Center Square Grill in East Longmeadow. So show your support by eating well and often and be sure to check our website and Facebook event page frequently for updated information on menus and other special offers at select restaurants.
