Masterpiece Ball marks Downton Abbey’s season premiereDate: 12/18/2014 SPRINGFIELD – If last year was any indication, those hoping to attend WGBY’s third-annual Masterpiece Ball in Celebration of the Women of Downton Abbey Jan. 3, 2015, 6 to 11 p.m., would be wise to accomplish two tasks soon: reserve a ticket and secure a period costume; both ended up being hot (and scarce) commodities leading up to the inaugural event.
Guests who attended last year’s benefit gala can expect some of the same elements this year: the elegant atmosphere of The Log Cabin, which will once again host nearly 400 guests; a five-course dinner prepared to match the era in which Downton Abbey, Season 5 takes place, the 1920s; The Masterpiece Ballroom Orchestra Under the Direction of Jeffrey Holmes; a Jazz ensemble and vocalist; a costume contest; a silent auction; and an advance screening of the first hour of the show’s 5th season. But like the show itself, this year’s Ball will also offer new twists.
You can choose to become a member of the WGBY Masterpiece Ball Downton Abbey event cast for the evening. Cast yourself as a cast or period character (or let us cast you). Dress the part (or just honor it), enjoy sitting at a cast table, be presented at the Ball by our toastmaster, and be part of the cast photo. The hour-long screening requires no ticket; it is free and open to the public. Season 5 premieres on WGBY Jan. 4 at 9 p.m.
Reserve your seats at wgby.org/masterpieceball.
