OSV set to host Craft: Beers + Trades event Sept. 19, 20Date: 9/11/2015 STURBRIDGE – Visitors to Old Sturbridge Village on Sept. 19 and 20 will have the chance to sample beers and hard cider from more than twenty of the finest local breweries and brands, and view more than two dozen New England skilled artisans at work.
The weekend event, entitled “Craft: Beers + Trades,” is a new offering at the region's largest living history museum that celebrates fine craftsmanship.
“Whether it's the tremendous care and skill that goes into creating a fine and enjoyable beverage such as beer and hard cider or the exacting labor that produces an exquisite piece of furniture or painting, this event will have guests marveling, with all their senses, at the extreme care that these artisans pour into their work,” James Donahue, president and CEO of Old Sturbridge Village, said.
In addition to the spectacular beer sampling garden, guests may purchase a meal at a barbecue with bratwurst and other treats, along with a selection of beers for sale.
Accompanying live bluegrass music will be performed by Erica Brown and The Bluegrass Connection, and Amy Gallatin and Stillwaters.
“Craft beer making is reminiscent of the early artisanal work that Old Sturbridge Village demonstrates daily in that it is very much a hands-on process,” Cedric Daniel, co-owner of Rapscallion Beer, said. “While the tools have evolved, the process of brewing dates back to ancient times. Rapscallion is excited to be part of this festival as we use honey produced at the Village in our Honey Ale all year long. Festival-goers can taste this beer which represents a full circle community partnership as well as many other regional craft beers and ciders which offer a taste of their own communities.”
Participating breweries to date include Blue Point Brewery, Down the Road Beer Company, Downeast Cider House, Element Brewing Company, Harpoon Brewery, Iron Duke Brewing, Lefty's Brewing Company, Magic Hat Brewery, Rapscallion, Revival Brewing Company, Shipyard Brewing Company, Sierra Nevada Brewery, Switchback Brewery, Wachusett Brewing Company, White Lion Brewery, Willimantic Brewing Company, Woodchuck Cider, and Wormtown Brewery.
