The Drama Studio offers free lesson at open houseDate: 8/13/2014 SPRINGFIELD – The Drama Studio will offer a free 45 minute acting class: one for students ages 9 to 18 at an open house on Aug. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m., and one for students ages 6 to 8 at an open house on Aug. 27 from 6 to 7 p.m.
“Attending an open house is the best way for families to learn about the Drama Studio and our training program. The free class gives students a much clearer idea of what it means to study acting and to be part of the Drama Studio,” the Drama Studio’s Director of Conservatory Amelia Hays-Rivest said.
Now in its 28th year, the Drama Studio offers the region's only conservatory-style acting training program for ages 6 to 18. From September to June, the Studio offers over 20 different courses for young actors, including Introduction to acting, scene study, acting Shakespeare, improvisation, musical theatre, stage combat, and choreography.
All students are eligible to audition for a wide range of productions including the studio's annual December production at CityStage in downtown Springfield.
In addition to attending the acting class, prospective students will take a backstage tour of the Studio's intimate black box theatre, meet the faculty, and enjoy refreshments.
The Drama Studio is located at 41Oakland Street in St. Barnabas Church next to the Forest Park Library. On street parking is permitted.
