Westfield on Weekends announces pizza-making contestDate: 5/15/2014 WESTFIELD – Westfield on Weekends (WOW) has partnered with The Universe According to Josh Simpson to introduce a pizza contest in the summer of 2014. The winning recipe will be featured on the menu at Clemenza’s Brick Oven Pizza during July, August, and September.
Westfield will be celebrating Simpson’s artistry from June to October and to involve the community, they have created this contest. To enter the contest, participants will need to take a photograph of their pizza, fill out an entry form, and enclose a check for $10. This will then have to be mailed by May 23 or delivered to the WOW booth during the 5Kool Down on May 24.
Once the forms and designs are in, judges will select five finalists from all of the applications to participate in the live judging finals. The finalists will be informed via phone and will also be listed by June 14 on the official “Universe According to Josh Simpson” website.
The live judging will take place on June 28 at 5 p.m. in downtown Westfield, and if selected as a finalist, must bring the ingredients and make the pizza on site. This contest is open to all ages and the winner will receive a glass-blown Large Inhabited Planet with a stand, as well as a featured spot on the Clemenza’s Brick Oven Pizza menu.
The pizza creation can be anything that comes to the imagination. It could be a planet inspired by one of Simpson’s glass planets, or it could be a planet that only you could imagine. It will have be designed with 100 percent edible ingredients.
Westfield is celebrating The Universe According to Josh Simpson with many events other than the pizza contest, too. Some are exhibitions in galleries, demonstrations, a film series, lectures, many children’s activities, and a street festival in the fall dubbed “Megaplanetplaooza.” At many of these events people can be awarded a Simpson planet.
