Time to Answer Reader's Questions

Question: Is the Internet killing you?

Answer: NO. Why? We ARE the Internet they are referring to. Just last week we had clients from Missouri, Indian-apolis, and even a soldier who is stationed in Afghanistan, just to name a few. Many savvy shoppers on the Internet know that cruisestore.com can meet or beat web prices, but to people in our backyard we are viewed as a nice little local travel agency. Years ago we had and still continue to invest in the "800" number and in the Internet sales business. Our client base is national and global. One client from Japan qualified for a promotion with proof that the trip was for their honeymoon. A copy of the wedding invitation was faxed to us and we forwarded it to the cruise line. We had no clue if it was right as it was all in Japanese, but they were able to qualify. In the past, agencies from Florida would advertise in our local papers. We found where they were located, advertised in their local papers, and booked Florida people going on cruises from Florida, right here from East Longmeadow. Recently, a national consumer cruise site had a special offered to our troops and honorably discharged veterans off of our militarycruises.com site as their "Bargain of the Week".

Question: Do you get a better deal booking directly with the cruise line?

Answer: The simple answer is again NO. Let's say that you booked with a cruise line direct, have made a deposit but not yet paid final payment. You can easily have the agency of record transferred to The Cruise Store. For many people, we have found discounts that the cruise line missed. In some cases we saved them hundreds of dollars; in others we caught mistakes in the record. Just this week someone stopped in with a price from a popular cruise line, and our agent found a discount that he qualified for that was not disclosed to him.

A client from Albany called us after placing his deposit on a cruise directly with the cruise line. He said he was transferring the agency of record to the Cruise Store, and because of the cabin placement recommendation we made for his prior cruise, he booked that same location on their newest ship. As we get to see ships when they first come out, we advised him that on their new ship that same location had a view of 30 feet of roofing material. He was shocked, said that the cruise line never told him that, and it wasn't shown on their website. We moved his cabin to a much better location for that particular ship.

Well back to work, we just received price requests from Canada and Chicago.
