250th Committee hosts Christmas decorating contest

Date: 12/26/2023

LUDLOW — Thirty-two houses entered this year’s Christmas house decorating contest coordinated by the 250th Celebration Committee.

Judging took place from Dec. 10-16 and the first place winner was 95 Miller St., second place was 74 Edison Dr. and third place was 25 Dale St.

250th Celebration Committee member David Sady said, “All the winners were excited to be selected. The one thing that stood out in my mind, they were all nice people but the lady that won actually teared up and was emotional. She was so shocked and happy.

He added, “Next year I can see 50 houses participating. There are a lot of nicely decorated houses that didn’t enter but as the word gets out, I think we get more participants.

The top three winners each receive gifts cards, merchandise from the committee and march in the parade for the Ludlow 250th celebration.

“You should take a drive around Ludlow and see the houses,” 250th Celebration Committee member Kathy Ouimette said, “I know the first place winner was overwhelmed with excitement and couldn’t stop crying. She decorates every year and went all out this year by putting up a spectacular display. It was her hole yard.”
