LUDLOW – A new shake and tea shop in Ludlow is offering a way to increase your protein intake and feel energized.
On Nov. 5, Elite of Ludlow (EL) Nutrition hosted its grand opening at 194 East St.
“We sell energizing teas and protein shakes that serve as meal replacement,” owner Crystal Jimenez said. “It is a healthy option that we wanted to bring to the community.”
Jimenez has been the owner of the Elite Nutrition in East Longmeadow for three years.
She has been looking to open another store for a little while now and bring this product closer to communities that she already helped.
“We always wanted to open a new place, but the timing was never right. We finally found an open spot in Ludlow and jumped on it. Since we already did things in the community, it made more sense to open another space closer,” Jimenez added.
Jimenez prides herself on having healthier and cleaner shakes and teas that customers can enjoy.
“All of our teas are caffeinated with no sugars which makes them on the healthier side. Our caffeine is a type of clean caffeine. We use green tea and guarana tea to offer different levels of caffeine,” Crystal said.
Jimenez said the teas can be enjoyed by people like her who do not enjoy drinking coffee or energy drinks. She added, “A lot of people use it as a coffee or energy drink replacement. There is no crash that comes with it. I wanted something that was cleaner and could keep me energized all day.”
The protein shakes serve as meal replacements and include 24 grams of protein with only nine grams of “all-natural sugar with nothing else added,” Jimenez said.
EL Nutrition has a goal of making the shakes more flavorful and appealing to the eye while also staying healthy.
“We kind of make them look fancy. It looks more like a meal and dessert all in one. It also tastes good and is not like your normal protein shakes,” Crystal added.
There are over 30 different flavors of shakes to choose from like cookie dough and birthday cake.
All the shakes are under 300 calories.
Jimenez said EL Nutrition makes sure to embrace the community by partnering with the sports teams and schools to host fundraisers and their product.
“What we wanted to do was join the community, make it healthier and give back. We also want to give the teams the energy they need during their games,” Jimenez added.
Jimenez invites everyone to come try their products or stop by and enjoy the room in the store to “study, have meetings, or just hang out.”
The current hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. They are currently closed on Sundays, but Jimenez expects that to change eventually.
