LUDLOW – Starting at the beginning of November, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 3236 and other businesses will be hosting events to support and raise money for local veterans.
On Nov. 1, VFW Post 3236 will be hosting a veterans services and food drive event in front of the Big Y on Center Street from 3 to 6 p.m. They will be joined by members of the Springfield center and multiple veterans service organizations.
Veterans service director Eric Segundo said this event will provide information and services for veterans who are interested and continue to help with the local food pantry.
On Nov. 3, the VFW and Vanished Valley Brewing Company will be hosting a Vet Together event to launch its new Thank You for Your Service beer. The event will take place at 6 p.m. at Vanished Valley for residents, veterans and families to enjoy and support.
On Nov. 11, Jess Miller comedy shows will be hosting a funny raising comedy night at 8:30 p.m. at the Lusitano Club to support the VFW post. There will be a 50/50 raffle, a cash bar and three comedians performing. The comedians are Timothy Lovett, Sean Morton and Darren Rivera.
An individual ticket costs $20 and a table of 10 costs $200.
Businesses and residents can also support a veteran by buying a ticket and making it free to an interested veteran. All the money raised will be used to pay for the comedians and all the leftover money will go to helping the VFW food pantry.
Segundo said, “It will be a fun night. We are still looking for businesses or people to support our veterans to go to the event.”
On Nov. 12, Vanished Valley will be hosting its second annual veterans appreciation pig roast. The event is free for veterans and their family to enjoy a pig roast meal, live music, and raffles. It will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at Vanished Valley Brewing Co.
Segundo said he hopes to see tons of residents and veterans enjoy all the events and support their local heroes.
