LUDLOW — The Pioneer Valley Financial Group in collaboration with the Randall Boys & Girls Club will have their annual Slide Into Summer Safety event for grades K-5 on June 16 from 1-3 p.m. at the Ludlow Community Center.
“We’ve been doing this for eight years,” said Partner and Director of Client Relations Karen Nogueira. “We had 150 kids our first year and last year we had about 500, so it’s grown substantially over the last eight years. It’s a testament to our community. It gives kids and parents something fun to do on the last day of school.”
Partner and Chief Operating Officer Kelly Haber added, “We want kids to feel comfortable with local first responders, to get safety tips for the summer, learn a couple of things from our police and firefighters and have fun.”
She went on to say, “We’ve been big supporters of the Randall Boys & Girls Club for many years. We’ve had some of our employees join the board and actively volunteer. This is just one of the events we support them with throughout the year.”
Activities include inflatable water slides, music, dance, a DJ, raffles, ice cream and popcorn. For this year’s event, the Pioneer Valley Financial Group are partnering with Luso Federal Credit Union, the Ludlow CARES Coalition and Randall’s Farm and Greenhouse.
The Pioneer Valley Financial Group is a financial planning firm in Ludlow. Haber told Reminder Publishing they think it’s important to give back to their community not just financially but with their time as well. They want to make connections with local children as well as other organizations and people who are doing good things in the community. PV’s managing partner Ed Sokolowski would always say to them do good by doing good in their community and it’s become a philosophy and culture there at PV Financial Group engaging with everyone.
Slide Into Summer started off as an idea Pioneer Valley Financial Group thought of before children went off to enjoy their summer and wanted to find a way to get them to interact with the first responders and get summer safety tips from the first responders. Pioneer Valley Financial Group hosted it and asked their local first responders to attend so the kids could learn about summer safety like fire and water safety; all of those safety tips that can be offered to children as a reminder before they go enjoy their summer. Cristina Jardine, director of donor relations and events at the Randall Boys & Girls Club said,
“We’re so grateful for PV Financial for taking the lead on Slide into Summer Safety for so many years. Their partnership with us here at the Club, the Ludlow Police Department, Fire Department, Rotary, Ludlow CARES Coalition and business sponsors like Luso Federal Credit Union has created a truly unique community event and gives Ludlow students something fun to look forward to on the last day of school.”
Elementary age children will receive more information through their schools in the coming days.
