NORTHAMPTON – The Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School Annual Holiday Craft Fair, which has been around for over three decades, is returning on Nov. 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The festival, which supports local craft businesses, the school’s Health Technology Department and the PTO bake sale, will happen inside the gymnasium of the high school on 80 Locust St.
According to Tara Sherman, a staff member of the Health Technology department, people can expect around 60 vendors with various focuses.
Aside from jewelry, craft vendors will offer wood, holiday décor, blown glass, alpaca products, paintings, rifle shell products, pottery, cutting boards, wreaths, soaps, birdbaths, gnomes and more. The PTO will also have some food for sale.
“We have so many different vendors,” said Sherman. “Something for everyone, especially for the person that has everything.”
The craft fair has been a staple of the high school for many years, according to Sherman, who added that it was the city’s Council on Aging that started the event.
“I remember coming when I was in high school,” said Sherman. “It’s been around for a while.”
Sherman said that they lost some vendors due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the school has also simultaneously gained younger crafters. The result has created a healthy mixture of returning vendors and some who are new to the event.
The money raised from selling the space for the event will go to the student activity account, which is then used for senior awards or for certain amenities on field trips.
