SPRINGFIELD – The theater arts program at American International College (AIC) will present “Top Girls” by Caryl Churchill.
“Top Girls,” a play about women in the workforce, is set in England in the 1980s and chronicles the life of Marlene, a successful business woman in a male dominated business.
To celebrate a high profile promotion, Marlene invites famous women throughout history to dinner to discuss their many accomplishments. As the play unfolds, Marlene, her present day colleagues and female family members recount their own stories of struggle, sacrifice, and triumph.
The play is the original New York production by the New York Shakespeare Festival produced by Joseph Kapp and is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
“Top Girls” will be presented in the newly renovated Griswold Theater in the Karen Sprague Cultural Arts Center at American International College. The play runs from April 24 to 26 for three performances: April 24 and 25 at 7 p.m.; April 26 at 2 p.m.
Admission is free and open to the public. Donations are appreciated and accepted at the door. “Top Girls” is meant for mature audiences. More information is available online at www.aic.edu or by calling 654-1486.
