Base Camp hosts Photographic Odyssey

Date: 6/18/2014

GREENFIELD – A Photographic Odyssey, a collection of 20 photographs by Ginny Newton of Erving, will open June 21 at Base Camp Photo.

“Photography is my main creative outlet, it fits into the cracks and crevices of my life and it engages my brain in way I did not anticipate,” Newton said.

The camera has been her passion all along but 16 years ago she took a leap of faith to move forward and really push her artistic being from documenting her life to exploring the world creatively with the new digital technology.

Newton’s work is sectioned into various styles including landscapes, experimental techniques, nature and more. The photographs are rich in color and depth, printed on archival exhibition paper in handcrafted frames and range from small intimate pieces to large majestic ones.

A Photographic Odyssey is open from June 21 to July 25 at Base Camp Photo, 22 Riddell St. There will be an artist’s reception June 21 from 5 to 8 p.m., which is free and open to the public.

Summer gallery hours are Thursday and Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
