For more than four decades, the music of Kansas has resonated with multiple generations of music lovers. Since the release of their self-titled debut album in 1974, the band has produced eight gold albums, three sextuple-platinum albums and a platinum live album.
One of their multiple sextuple-platinum albums, Point of Know Return, featured the million-selling gold single “Dust in the Wind.” This international hit and “Carry On Wayward Son,” also gold-certified, are the band’s best known songs and have been covered by countless other artists and featured on many film and television soundtracks.
Kansas appeared on the Billboard charts for over 200 weeks throughout the 70s and 80s and has sold-out arenas worldwide. To this day, Kansas still dominates Classic Rock radio and remains a prevalent influence in pop culture.
Coinciding with the celebration of their 40th anniversary in 2014, Kansas was inducted into the Kansas Hall of Fame and the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, as recognition for their achievements from their native state and adopted home state.
The band, which is currently comprised of original drummer Phil Ehart, bassist/vocalist Billy Greer, keyboardist David Manion, vocalist/keyboardist Ronnie Platt, violinist/guitarist David Ragsdale and original guitarist Richard Williams, continues to rock on and draws large enthusiastic audiences all over the world.
