SOUTH HADLEY - Local community theatre group High Wire Acts will be performing the musical "Working" July 23, 24 and 25 at 7 p.m. at South Hadley High School.
Based on the best-selling book of interviews with American workers by Studs Terkel, "Working" explores the American workday using the original words of working-class men and women.
"Working" follows a parking lot attendant, a corporate executive, a schoolteacher, a housewife, a firefighter, a waitress, a mill worker, a sailor and more, who sing and talk about their jobs, defining not only their daily routine, but their hopes and aspirations as well.
The show features a variety of musical writers including Stephen Schwartz ("Wicked") and James Taylor.
High Wire Acts performs one musical a year, with all profits benefitting South Hadley High's Drama Club, Harlequins. This summer's show is directed by Logan Lopez of 94.7 WMAS's Kellogg's Morning Crew. Musical director and choreographer is Sarah Rose Stack, a staff member of South Hadley High's music department and Harlequins director.
Tickets are $10 for students, seniors and children and $12 for adults. Call Darrell at 297-6768 with any ticket questions.
