Majestic unveils summer lineup

Date: 6/5/2014

WEST SPRINGFIELD – Danny Eaton, producing director of the Theater Project, has announced the summer lineup of concerts and events at the theater.

Tickets for all concerts are currently on sale at the box office at 131 Elm St., or may be purchased by calling 747-7797.

The Majestic Theater Café will open one hour before performances.

In addition to the concert series, the Majestic will also hold its popular Open Mic Nights, hosted by Floyd Patterson, on Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. from July 8 to Aug. 26. Singers, musicians, comedians, magicians and other performers must call the Majestic Theater at 747-7797 to book a spot during one of the weekly shows.

Audience members will be able to vote for their favorite performers.  Weekly prizes of $100, $75 and $50 will be awarded to the acts that earn the most ballots, then each top act will face off for grand prizes ($200, $150 and $100) at the Grand Finale Show on Aug. 26. Tickets will be $5 for both performers and audience members during the regular Open Mic Nights.

Also returning will be Improvisational Comedy with The Majesters, which features a troupe of the best improv comics from across the Pioneer Valley for an evening of unscripted comic mayhem. The program begins with improv scenes similar to “Whose Line is it Anyway,” and is followed by a storyline that's developed with help from the audience.  Improvisational Comedy with The Majesters takes place Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. July 9 to Aug. 27. Tickets are $7.

The Majestic will also present children’s theater this summer.  “Pinocchio,” “Fantastic Mr. Fox” and “Hansel & Gretel” will be presented in July and August.  Admission is $9 per person.  Those who purchase tickets to all three plays at the same time join “The Snack Club,” which entitles them to get free snack at each play.
