Massachusetts Academy of Ballet announces spring performanceDate: 5/22/2015 HOLYOKE – This year’s Spring Ballet performance at the Massachusetts Academy of Ballet is momentous in that it marks the studio’s 10-year anniversary.
Artistic Directors Rose and Charles Flachs have “raised the barre,” transforming this Holyoke Academy into a highly regarded “destination” studio where ballet students receive an artistic education in dance as well as community engagement.
On May 31, students celebrate the 10-year milestone with a 1 p.m. “Spring Ballet” performance showcasing annual Etudes and excerpts from the classical ballet La Bayadere, with choreography by Matisse Madden, Charles Flachs and Debra Vega. There will also be Tap by Tapella, directed by Crystal Menninga and Corrine Morgan, and guest artist performances by alumna Connie Flachs and Yuka Oba, courtesy of the Grand Rapids Ballet Company.
The Spring Ballet performance takes place at Holyoke High School, 500 Beech St., preceded by a silent auction at noon with a reception immediately following. General admission tickets for adults are $15 and children 8 and under are $8. Tickets can be purchased at MAB studios, 4 Open Square Way, No. 403, or at the door.
Proceeds benefit the Massachusetts Academy of Ballet Educational Training Association.
