Museums la Carte features photos to iconsDate: 12/29/2008 SPRINGFIELD The Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle will present the following Museums la Carte programs in January. The programs take place on Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. in the Michele and Donald D'Amour Museum of Fine Arts.
Jan. 8 -- "The Master Forger." Ivan MacDonald, lecturer and photographer.
Jan. 15 - "Museum of Russian Icons: The Best Collection Outside of Russia." Gordon Lankton, founder, and Kent dur Russell, CEO and curator, Museum of Russian Icons.
Jan. 22 -- "Kenyan Safari: A Photographic Expedition." Peter Santos, photographer and lecturer.
Jan. 29 -- "Finding Fantasy: One Artist's Journey." Ruth Sanderson, artist and illustrator.
Admission to Museums la Carte is $4 ($2 for members of the Springfield Museums). The programs are sponsored by Big Y World Class Market. Visitors are invited to bring lunch to enjoy during the program; cookies and coffee are provided.

The Springfield Science Museum's large rooftop telescope will be open for public sky-gazing on Jan. 2 at 7:30 p.m. The program will take place rain or shine. If it is overcast, a planetarium show will be presented in place of telescope viewing.
Stars Over Springfield observatory programs are offered on the first Friday of each month from September through May. The programs are best suited for families with children ages eight and older; however, younger children are also welcome. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children 17 and under.
The Springfield Science Museum is located at the Quadrangle at 21 Edwards St., off Chestnut Street. Free parking is available in the Edwards Street lots. For more information about astronomy programs, call 263-6800 ext. 318.
