The four-piece group will utilize video, laser lights, fog and other effects to help re-create the lush visual aura that Pink Floyd made their trademark. "Obviously there's only so much you can do in a club-sized setting," said drummer Steve Vallan, "but we are definitely planning to make sure that this show is as exciting to see as it is to hear." Liquid Floyd's members are all Pioneer Valley residents. In addition to Stanek, the group features bassist Tim O'Brien, 50, of Hatfield, keyboard player Steve Gallant, 45, of South Hadley and Vallan, 45, of Wilbraham. The band will perform two sets including many of Pink Floyd's biggest radio and album hits. The foursome will be joined by saxophone player Ted Wirt, 52, of Greenfield, who will appear on songs from "The Dark Side of the Moon." Local radio personality John O'Brien is expected to perform in a cameo role as well. Liquid Floyd's members are all seasoned veterans of the Pioneer Valley musical scene. Guitarist Stanek was a founding member of "Wicked Garden" and also performed alongside Gallant and Vallan in "Liquid." O'Brien spent many years with regional favorites "The Crescents" as well as "Route 66" before joining the Pink Floyd tribute band in 2006. The players are very pleased with their reception thus far. "Pink Floyd created some of the most memorable music of the rock era," points out Gallant, "and it's still being played today all over the world. We're looking forward to doing a number of our concerts right here in the Valley and giving Floyd fans a chance to enjoy a faithful live experience right in their own backyard." |
