Register now for Museum School

Date: 9/18/2014

SPRINGFIELD – Registration is now underway for fall courses and trips offered by The Museum School, which offers experiential learning opportunities for both children and adults on an ongoing basis at the Springfield Museums.

Courses in studio art, art history, and writing have long been a central part of the Museum School offerings and are available for a wide range of ages.

The courses are designed with the Springfield Museums’ collections in mind, and often take place in the museum galleries themselves.

The range of available courses has been expanded in recent years to include topics like “Morning at the Museums” classes for young children, robotics both for children and adults, and instruction for adults in genealogy, culinary arts and jewelry making.

Adult travel opportunities are also a regular part of the Museum School programs, with day trips to the New Bedford Whaling Museum, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and the 9/11 Museum in New York all slated for this fall.

Extended trips to Pennsylvania’s Brandywine region and tours of Britain by the Royal Horticultural Society in 2015 are also currently available on a limited basis.
