Springfield Museums to host teen anime and comic event

SPRINGFIELD – The Central Library will be buzzing with activity the weekend of Nov. 15 and 16 when teen anime and comic fans hang out and meet other like-minded teens.

Described as “a style of animation originating in Japan characterized by stark colorful graphics depicting vibrant characters in action-filled plots often with fantastic or futuristic themes,” the library be showing these anime episodes on Nov. 15:

• Sugar, a Little Snow Fairy, Episodes 1 and 2 (Appropriate for ages 10 and older), 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.;

• Eyeshield 21, Episodes 1 and 2 (Appropriate for ages 13 and older), 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.;

• Somedays Dreamers, Episodes 1 and 2 (Appropriate for ages 13 and older), 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.;

• Orphen, Episodes 1 and 2 (Appropriate for ages 12 and older), 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Other events include:   

• Chibiconn Trivia Contest, 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.;

• Special Guests: North East Ghostbusters Alliance: Taskforce Ecto, 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.
 
The fun continues on Nov. 16,  12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Attractions include:

• Special Guest: Speaker Aaron Wood, 1 to 2:30 p.m. Aaron Wood illustrated the comic “Captain Drew and His Crew of Two.” A graphic designer currently living in Massachusetts, Aaron is also known for artwork with a social media or pop culture angle to it.

• Special Guest Panel:  Cosplay is for Everyone, 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

• Cosplay Contest, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

• Art Contest Judging, 4:30 p.m.
