Band to play a season of seven concerts in Westfield
The Pioneer Valley Concert Band, founded in 1984, is pleased to present a season of 7 concerts., led by director Samuel A. Hudak III.
Beginning with a concert on the West Springfield Common on July 4 at 1:30 pm, the schedule includes presentations in Chicopee's Szot Park on Sundays in July the 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th all starting at 6:30 pm, and a concert at the Chicopee Public Library on Tuesday, July 24, also at 6:30 p.m. This concert will go on rain or shine; the park concerts will be made up on Sundays in August at 6 p.m. if postponed by rain. The band will also perform in Holyoke in the Soldiers' Home at 2:30 p.m. on July 22.
Concerts are free to the public; concertgoers should bring chairs or blankets for outdoor seating. The location in Szot Park is the first parking area on the left past the park entrance off Front Street. Audiences of all ages will enjoy a varied program of marches, show medleys, and other concert favorites.
These concerts are sponsored by grants from the Cultural Councils of Chicopee and Holyoke, with contributions from Chicopee Savings Bank, Peoples Bank, the West Springfield Park and Recreation Department, and co-sponsored by funds from the music Performance Fund, administered by Local 171, American Federation of Musicians. Narration is provided by Carol D. Greenfield, the manager of the band.
