Fresh seafood served up by Matunuck Oyster Bar at Big EDate: 8/28/2014 WESTFIELD – The Big E will be serving up fresh seafood and oysters from Matunuck Oyster Farm as Rhode Island’s Matunuck Oyster Bar arrives for the 2014 fair season.
Featured on multiple occasions in “The Boston Globe” for striving to grow and produce the best, farm-fresh shellfish possible, they will be setting up shop on the fair’s Commonwealth Avenue come Sept. 12, complete with a raw bar, lobster rolls, oysters, fish and chips, and more.
Founded in 2002, the wildly popular Matunuck Oyster Farm, specializes in raising farm-fresh oysters and other shellfish, from “pond to plate,” at its South Kingstown, Rhode Island, location.
In 2009, the Matunuck Oyster Bar opened, serving a variety of seafood as well as the oysters harvested from the farm, where they are grown in Potter Pond. To learn more about the operation, visit www.rhodyoysters.com.
At the Big E, Matunuck Oyster Bar will be offering a variety of Rhode Island oysters and clams in addition to many other fresh seafood dishes they’ll be preparing throughout the fair.
Other dishes being served at the Matunuck Oyster Bar with a special Ocean State flavor include shrimp cocktail, clam chowder and calamari.
Growing more than one million market-sized oysters a year, Matunuck’s shellfish are shipped up and down the East Coast and can be found in restaurants from Boston to New York to Atlanta, bringing a taste of Rhode Island to millions.
The Big E takes place from Sept. 12 to 28. The 17-day event is the largest fair in the Northeast and fifth largest fair in North America.
