GSCVB to host Foodfest ChallengeDate: 10/30/2014 HOLYOKE – The Greater Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau (GSCVB) is proud to announce The Western Massachusetts Foodfest Challenge.
The event will take place Nov. 17 at The Log Cabin from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $45 each and available for purchase to the general public. To purchase tickets via Paypal, visit valleyvisitor.com. For questions contact Michele Goldberg at Michele@valleyvisitor.com or 755-1344.
Various restaurants from throughout Western Massachusetts have been invited to prepare dishes that demonstrate what “Western Massachusetts” means to them. This could mean utilizing produce from the region, a dish that reminds them of a Western Massachusetts time or place, etc.
Participating restaurants at this time include: The Delaney House, Chandlers, Steaming Tender, Bobby V’s, Carpaccio Trattoria, Palazzo Café, The Loft, 30Boltwood and Nadim's Mediterranean Restaurant & Grill.
Guests will be invited to visit the stations of the participating restaurants and place a chip into the container for the item they like best. The chips are then counted and the restaurant with the most chips receives 10 bonus points to go towards their overall score within each category.
Categories for the dishes prepared include: Appetizer/Starter; Mini-Entrée; and Dessert.
Tourism and hospitality professionals from outside the region will serve as judges for the event. Judges will then score the dishes in each category based on three criteria – taste, presentation and use of Western Massachusetts theme.
Commercial Distributing will feature beer tastings for each course. Cash bar will be available.
