Hybernians announce annual summer picnic at the Wherehouse?Date: 6/5/2014 HOLYOKE – The Ancient Order of Hibernians James A. Curran Division One of Hampden-Hampshire Counties invites the public to attend the 6th Annual Summer Picnic Hibernian Style on Jun 14 at the Wherehouse?, 109 Lyman St. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and serving will begin at 5 p.m. Enjoy music from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Back by popular demand, the event will feature award-winning songwriter Jim O’Connor and the five-piece Boston Blackthorne Band. The award-winning Celtic and Irish-American traditional and original music band have been performing throughout New England for more than 10 years. The band will feature their latest original song, “Christmas in Pittsburgh.”
The 3rd Annual Hibernian Irish Soda Brad Contest will also take place. For an entry form, visit www.aoh-holyoke.com. The Maurice A Donahue Memorial Scholarship will be presented, the 2014 Ancient Order of Hibernians Christian Charity Award will be given to Barbara C. Bernard and O’Connor will perform a special tribute to his late father William O’Connor, a former Irish Shanachie (storyteller).
