Majestic Theater annouces auditions for 13th seasonDate: 5/11/2009 WEST SPRINGFIELD The Theater Project announced that auditions will take place for roles in six plays that comprise its 13th season in residence at the Majestic Theater.
The season includes, "Golf: The Musical," running July 9 - Aug. 2; "The Porch," running Sept. 10 - Oct. 8; "Piecemeal The Frankenstein Musical," running Oct. 29 - Dec. 6; "Almost, Maine," running Jan. 7 - Feb. 14, 2010; "A Man for All Seasons," running Feb. 25 - April 4, 2010; and "The Fantasticks," running April 15 - May 23, 2010.
The auditions will take place on May 29 - 30 for Equity performers, and June 2 - 7 for non-Equity performers.
All auditions take place at the Majestic Theater and must be scheduled in advance by calling the box office at 747-7797.
Actors should prepare either a song or a monologue of their choice, or 32 bars of a song and a one-minute monologue. Singers are asked to bring sheet music for the accompanist.
All participants should bring a photo and resume, stapled together.
"We're excited to unveil a great mix of plays that are going to please our audiences," Theater Project Founder Danny Eaton, said. "'Golf: The Musical' is an incredibly funny tongue-in-cheek musical riff on everything golf-related.
"'The Porch' is author Jack Neary's most recent play, and his other shows, 'Jerry Finnegan's Sister' and 'First Night' were big hits at the Majestic, so we're happy to present his latest," he continued.
"'Piecemeal' is a take on all of the Hollywood versions of the Frankenstein movies, and 'Almost, Maine' has a lot of the same appealing quirkiness of that TV show 'Northern Exposure,'" Eaton said.
"'A Man for All Seasons' is the classic story of Thomas Moore, and 'The Fantasticks' is as charming today as it was more than forty years ago," he continued. "It's the longest-running show in the history of theater in America."
Subscriptions for the new season are currently being accepted, and tickets for "Golf: The Musical" are now available.
Ticket sales for the remaining plays will become available in early September.
