SPRINGFIELD Smith & Wesson's Club 1852 will be in the spotlight as the firearms company gears up for a Super Shooting Weekend Oct. 20-21.

The Smith & Wesson Shooting Sports Center on Page Boulevard will be the setting for the event which will feature basic shooting and speed reloading tips and speed shooting demonstrations. Special guests during the weekend include Jerry Miculek, the fastest revolver shooter in the world, and Julie Goloski, the Ladies Multi-National and World Champion. Goloski also serves as Smith & Wesson's consumer program and advertising manager.

Demonstrations by Miculek and Goloski are planned on Oct. 20 at 12, 3 and 6 p.m., and at 11 a.m. on Oct. 21. Space is limited to view the demonstrations and reservations must be made in advance by calling (413) 846-6400. Due to age and some restrictions, not all persons will be eligible for some of the events planned.

A highlight of the weekend will be the first Club 1852 Indoor Match on Oct. 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"Club 1852 is Smith & Wesson's customer loyalty program, open to all Smith & Wesson owners," said Goloski during an interview with Reminder Publications.

Goloski explained that Club 1852 began in 2003 and celebrated its first national event in June of 2005.

"Club 1852 members will have the chance to compete in the newly designed Club 1852 Indoor Course," said Goloski, explaining the event will feature a timed 25-round course of fire.

Club 1852 members will pay a $10 entry fee and use their Smith & Wesson handgun. Handgun rentals will also be available for the match.

"Using two hands, competitors will fire at 15 feet, 50 feet and 75 feet, at tombstone-shaped targets with scoring rings," she said, adding that no holsters or other specialty gear is required.

Goloski said being a Club 1852 member is a great way to stay informed of all things new at Smith & Wesson, receive exclusive offers, and be a part of the company's heritage. Club 1852 membership is free and open to all and includes exclusive events at Club 1852 regional centers, product discounts, and a quarterly newsletter.

"They also have the chance to take advantage of exclusive Club 1852 promotions and to attend special Club 1852 events," said Goloski.

The Smith & Wesson Shooting Sports Center is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. For more information on Club 1852 or the Super Shooting Weekend, call (413) 846-6400.
