SOUTH HADLEY – The South Hadley Chorale will present a celebration of legendary composer Alice Parker, with a concert featuring Parker and Shaw’s translation of Haydn's The Creation, Parts I and II and Parker's Children, Saints, and Charming Sounds in collaboration with the South Hadley Children's Chorus.
The performance will take place on March 15 at 3 p.m. in Abbey Chapel at Mount Holyoke College.
Music Director Jonathan Harvey will conduct the 75-voice chorus, soloists, and full orchestra. The soloists will be Mary Hubbell, Jack A. Pott, and John Salvi.
This is Harvey's fifth year with the South Hadley Chorale. He is also the chorus director of the Pioneer Valley Symphony Chorus and is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Conducting at the University of Connecticut.
The South Hadley Children’s Chorus, under the direction of H. David Pulliam, will open the concert.
Tickets will be available at the door for $18, general admission; $13, senior citizens; and $5, students and children. Tickets may also be purchased pre-concert, at reduced rates ($15, $10, $5) from Chorale members; at the Odyssey Bookstore, South Hadley or online at www.shcconcert.eventbrite.com.
