SPRINGFIELD Theatrix, the Springfield JCC's Teen Theater Company, will present "The Phantom Toll Booth" on Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. at the JCC, 1160 Dickinson St., Springfield. The show is directed by Hilary Buxbaum, and features a talented cast of area youth, from five towns: Springfield, Longmeadow, Wilbraham, Hampden and West Springfield
"The Phantom Toll Booth" is a great play for young people to view, based on the popular book by Norton Juster. There are over twenty students in the cast and many crew members involved in this production.
The show is about a boy named Milo. His adventures begin in the Land of Wisdom where he's forced to think about many new things. Milo learns of the argument between King Azaz and his brother, the Mathemagician, whose disagreement over words and numbers has led to the banishment of Princesses Sweet Rhyme and Pure Reason. Milo is dispatched to rescue the princesses from the Land of Ignorance. The knowledge and skills Milo picks up on his journey help him to save the princesses. When he must return home, Milo's sorry to leave his friends -- but enriched by his experience, he realizes his attitude towards learning will never be the same.
Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for adults and $18 for Patron Reserved Seating. Purchase tickets by calling 739-4715 or stop by the Springfield JCC.
