WNEC Art Gallery - an Exhibit by Nona Hatay
ART EXHIBIT The Western New England College Art Gallery presents "Exploring Creativity: Natural Illusions," an exhibit by Nona Hatay, from March 4 through March 29. The Gallery, located on the ground floor of the St. Germain Campus Center, will host an opening reception Sunday, March 4 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. General Art Gallery hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday through Saturday, and 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. The event is free and open to the public.
A resident of Northampton, Hatay is a visual artist who has been stretching the boundaries of photography for 35 years. In 1999, she started her current series called "Natural Illusions," featuring scenes from nature in specially formatted color photographs mirrored and composed to create fascinating illusions. The series resulted in a DVD used in hospitals, clinics and yoga retreats as a relaxation aid. Hatay has also produced two books of experimental photo art about musician Jimi Hendrix, as well as a children's book entitled "Charlie's ABC's." She currently has a studio in Holyoke's Canal Gallery and is working with several musicians on a new DVD project called The Four Seasons.
