Associated Industries of Massachusetts partners with STCC to offer training programs

SPRINGFIELD Associated Industries of Massachusetts (AIM) and five Massachusetts community colleges recently announced an agreement under which the largest employer association in Massachusetts will offer supervisory, human resource, sales and customer service courses at community colleges throughout the Commonwealth.

This collaboration brings together public and private entities with distinguished histories of training and educating employees at Massachusetts companies. Organizers believe the initiative will offer valuable training in convenient settings for citizens whose skills and productivity will be a key factor in forging economic recovery in the Bay State.

The Center for Business and Technology (CBT) at Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) is the AIM partner in Western Massachusetts and will offer AIM's Customer Service Certificate Program, Sales Skills Training and a variety of human resources workshops including "The Supervisor and the Law," "HR for the Non-HR Manager" and "Three Vital HR Issues: Harassment Prevention, Workplace Violence and Drug and Alcohol Awareness."

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has partnered with a number of Massachusetts community colleges, including STCC, to conduct a free 15-hour Drinking Water Operator Training Course.

This 15-hour course will provide participants with:

Basic drinking water information

An understanding of the many professional employment opportunities that are available in the drinking water (environmental field)

Preparation for the Massachusetts Drinking Water Operator VSS exam

Program participants may also be eligible to take part in a paid internship program at participating public water systems.
