Award-winning photojournalist Sarah Prall announces opening of new portrait studio

Date: 6/15/2009

Sarah Prall, of Sarah Prall Photography, located at 27 Old Pelham Rd. in Belchertown, has opened her new portrait studio and is currently booking both in-studio and on-location portrait sessions. Appointments are available Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays.

Because of Prall's extensive photojournalism experience, her style of photography is natural, evocative and documentary. She strives to capture the beauty of who her subjects really are, without putting on a forced or contrived persona in front of the camera. As a mother of a young son herself, Prall is incredibly patient and enthusiastic about working with children of all ages, and says of her subjects, "My job is to follow them, to let them show me who they are without getting in the way. Families are so unique, with each member's personality so distinctive, that no two family portraits are or should be alike."

Her new studio will specialize in fine art portraits of maternity, newborns, children and families.

As a career photojournalist with 15 years of experience, photography has taken Prall across the country and as far away as South Africa, El Salvador and Honduras. Awards include dozens of media awards as well being a finalist for Arizona Photographer of the Year. She is also a member of the American Society of Media Photographers, Professional Photographers of America and the Professional Photographers Association of New England.

Prall moved to Western Massachusetts with her partner and young son from Tucson, Ariz., where she was a staff photographer and interim Photo Director at the Arizona Daily Star.
