Burton elected to Board of Depositors Insurance Fund

WOBURN Thomas R. Burton, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hampden Bank, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Depositors Insurance Fund.

The Depositors Insurance Fund (DIF) provides excess deposit insurance to 68 Massachusetts-chartered savings banks. At DIF member banks, all deposit amounts above FDIC insurance limits are insured in full by the Depositors Insurance Fund.

Burton joined Hampden Bank in 1993. Previously, he was managing partner of the Springfield office of KPMG Peat Marwick. At KPMG he also served as an associate SEC reviewing partner for 25 financial institution clients in Massachusetts, Vermont and Connecticut, ranging in size from $100 million in assets to over $4 billion.
