Business & Technology Spring Programs

SPRINGFIELD The Center for Business and Technology at Springfield technical Community College has announced the following programs.

With the goal of enhancing career training opportunities for area business professionals, the Center for Business and Technology at Springfield Technical Community College has partnered with the Employer's Association of the NorthEast (EANE) of Agawam and will conduct a variety of workshops and seminars at the College.

Programs available during the upcoming term include:

Conducting An Internal Investigation

Writing Refresher: Format, Style & Grammar For Today's Workplace

Influencing Without Authority

Conversational Spanish In The Workplace

Overcoming Negativity In The Workplace

The Center for Business and Technology at Springfield Technical Community College has announced that it will offer "Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS)" during the upcoming term.

Geographic information is used in business to determine site locations for new stores, in utility companies to locate service lines and towers, in local government to determine site locations for roads, landfills, and water supplies, in law enforcement to track and analyze crime incidents, by health agencies to determine patterns of disease, by fire and rescue officials to map fire spread and property damage, by bankers to map mortgage loans, by marketing professionals to analyze demographic data to target advertising expenditures, and even in the Pentagon to plan invasion strategies for the U.S. armed forces.

The Center for Business and Technology at Springfield Technical Community College has partnered with the George W. Gould Construction Institute of Burlington, MA and will conduct both the 21-hour Electrical Code Review and the OSHA 10-hour Construction courses at the College.

The 21-hour Electrical Code Review class conforms to the Massachusetts Board of State Examiners of Electricians requirements for mandatory continuing education and also fulfills requirements for Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

The OSHA 10-hour Construction program is designed to allow participants to comply with the new OSHA requirements and will cover the following major topics:

Areas of major concern with the intent to reduce accidents at the site, saving time and money.

All participants will receive a copy of the OSHA Standard CFR Part 1926 handbook and a certificate and OSHA card will be given to each participant successfully completing the program.
