| Candidates are being sought for Champions in Action program Citizens Bank and New England Cable News are seeking applicants for their Champions in Action program. The topic for the first quarter of 2007 is elder support. A nonprofit organization providing elder support will be selected and announced in Jan. The application deadline is Oct. 20 at 5 p.m. Applications may be obtained online at www.citizensbank.com/champions or at any Citizens Bank branch. Launched in fall of 2002, the Champions in Action program is designed to recognize and support non-profit organizations for their contributions to Massachusetts communities. A new champion is selected each quarter among a range of social service areas. Each Champion in Action receives: A $25,000 contribution in unrestricted funds from the Citizens Bank Foundation; Media coverage from NECN, including public service announcements and television profiles; Volunteer support from Citizens and NECN employees; Extensive public relations support; Promotional support, highlighting the Champion in Action in all Citizens Bank branches and on its ATMs; and Exposure on both Citizens Bank and NECN web sites.
