Coakley-Rivera announces grant for Springfield Council on Aging

BOSTON Rep. Cheryl A. Coakley-Rivera (D-Springfield), Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on Children, Families and Persons with Disabilities is pleased to announce that Springfield's Council on Aging has received a grant of $153,706 from the Executive Office of Elder Affairs. This grant allowed the Council to determine how it would spend the money within a broad range of eligible costs established by Elder Affairs.

"The Springfield Council on Aging has wisely decided to use this grant for Hispanic outreach, additional staff, in-service training, health and fitness programs, transportation and rent," Coakley-Rivera said. "I am excited about this opportunity to increase our services to the seniors in our community. This helps to address the needs of those who have given so much."
