Employers: support career shadow program

Ja'Net Smith, Clinical Director for the Center for Human Development, Terri Thomas Program is seeking employers who are interested in supporting a new grant which will provide job shadowing opportunities for young women who have completed her program.

The Children and Family Services Division, Terri Thomas Program of the Center for Human Development will use this grant to create a job shadowing programs for their former female clients. Twelve girls who have shown a high degree of need and personal motivation will take part in employability preparation, mentoring and job shadowing activities.

This grant will support the Workplace Readiness Certificate Program which is a curriculum designed to promote pre-employment competency and is grounded in the principles of school to work development.

Junior Achievement of Western Massachusetts will be offering Career Preparation and Leadership Training specifically adapted for a young female population. Conduct and deportment along with work ethics will be among the main topics covered.
