Kuhn named to 2008 In-House Leaders in the Law list

Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual) announced that Stephen L. Kuhn, senior vice president, secretary and deputy general counsel, has been named to the 2008 In-House Leaders in the Law list published by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly.

This is the second consecutive year that Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly has published the list, which recognized corporate attorneys throughout New England who serve as either a general counsel or staff sttorney. Kuhn was one of 15 attorneys throughout New England chosen by five panelists. Those recognized on the list are selected on the basis of outstanding leadership, ethics, vision and technical expertise, as well as their commitment to mentoring others in the legal profession.

"Throughout his 36-year career at MassMutual, Steve has demonsrated extraordinaly legal skill, ethics and business acumen, as well as unparalleled commitment to developing and mentoring others in the legal profession."

Prior to his current role as corporate secretary, Kuhn was a longtime lead counsel for MassMutual's investment business, and played key roles in the company's establishment and expansion of its asset management businesses and most significant acquisitions, including OppenheimerFunds Inc. in 1990, Babson Capital Management LLC in 1995 (formerly David L. Babson & Co., Inc.) and the merger of Connecticut Mutual and MassMutual in 1996.

Kuhn is a member of the American College of Investment Counsel, the Association of Life Insurance Counsel including a former member of the Nominating Committee and former chair of the Investment Section and former chairman of the Board of Directors for the Children's Home in Cromwell, Conn. He resides in Longmeadow.
