Lectures being offered for National Women's Small Business Month

SPRINGFIELD The Women Business Owners Alliance of Pioneer Valley (WBOA) launches its fall entrepreneurial workshop series on Sept. 29, in honor of National Women's Small Business Month.

As part of the series, WBOA members are offering free advice to women who are considering and recognizing the benefits of business ownership and an entrepreneurial spirit during this month dedicated to recognizing the achievements of female entrepreneurs and their small business ventures.

The first workshop, to take place Sept. 29 at Western New England College's Law and Business Center, 1215 Wilbraham Rd., Springfield, will be opened by the newly installed board members of WBOA Suzanne Larocque, Susan Kelley, Gina Barry, Michelle Murray, Janine Fondon, Freda Brown, Eileen Jerome, Lynne Goodhue, Jennifer Van Beckum, Allison Biggs, Becky Castro and Michelle Begley.

"The WBOA looks forward to encouraging women in the Pioneer Valley to start and grow businesses, especially in honor of Women's Small Business Month," Larocque, said. "Women entrepreneurs represent the present future success of this region."

The three workshops will all take place at Western New England College Law and Business Center.
  • Week 1: Building a brand and getting it in front of people. Sept. 29, 6 to 8 p.m. Speakers: Allison Biggs, Ingrid Bredenberg;

  • Week 2: Finding balance and creating time-saving systems. Oct. 7, 6 to 8 p.m. Speakers: Lynne Goodhue, Christine Burns;

  • Week 3: Setting yourself up for success. Oct. 13, 6 to 8 p.m. Speakers: Freda Brown, Susan Kelley.
