Liquori awarded Prudential CARES grant

NEWARK, N.J. The Prudential Foundation and Prudential Financial recently provided $461,000 in Prudential CARES Volunteer Grants to 444 nonprofit organizations worldwide. The Prudential CARES Volunteer Grants program recognizes individual and team volunteers based on a minimum of 40 hours of volunteer service per individual. Grants range from $250 to $5,000 for each award winner's charitable organization. The following Hampden County resident was presented with an award to pass along to his chosen charity.

Joseph A. Liquori of Springfield, a sales representative for Prudential Insurance, received a Prudential CARES Volunteer Grants Award of $250 for the Western Massachusetts Alliance for the Mentally Ill. Liquori dedicated 100 hours in 2006 as an advocate for the organization, coordinating educational meetings about treatments for mental illness, matching people with community services and lobbying for positive legislation effecting mental illness issues on a state level. The Western Massachusetts Alliance for the Mentally Ill works to improve the lives of people with severe mental illness through education and support.
