Living history

Hampden Bank Vice President and Sales Director Hector F. Toledo, center, paid a visit to Old Sturbridge Village (OSV) to donate $2,500 to the Village, which will be earmarked to fund field trips for Springfield area school children. Accepting the donation on behalf of OSV is interpreter Monique Schlegel; looking on is interpreter Pat Kelly.

OSV, one of the country's largest living history museums, welcomes more than 60,000 students on field trips each year. Hampden Bank has branches in Springfield, Agawam, Indian Orchard, Longmeadow, West Springfield, and Wilbraham, and makes supporting education priority.

"Field trips are wonderful hands-on learning opportunities, yet many schools are taking fewer field trips due to high gas prices and dwindling budgets," Toledo said. "Schools need support from the business community, and Hampden Bank is happy to help."
