McLaughlin tabbed ‘cable power player’ by CableFAX

SPRINGFIELD – Mary McLaughlin, senior vice president of Comcast’s Western New England Region and a resident of Longmeadow, was recently honored as one of the top 100 regional power players in the cable industry by CableFAX: The Magazine.  This is the third consecutive year that McLaughlin has received this honor, which is reserved for the most influential top-level executives in the cable industry.

In her role at Comcast, McLaughlin is the senior executive responsible for overseeing the operations, network development and customer service for Comcast customers in over 300 communities in western Massachusetts, Connecticut, western New Hampshire, Vermont and New York.  She is also accountable for the oversight of the company’s more than 1,700 employees throughout the region.

McLaughlin began her career in the communications industry with Continental Cablevision, drawing on her prior experience as a Massachusetts Assistant Attorney General specializing in consumer protection.

She went on to hold leadership roles with AT&T Broadband and Adelphia and served as Area Vice President for Comcast’s Greater Boston region before joining the western New England team.

McLaughlin has received many accolades throughout her career. In addition to being recognized by CableFAX: The Magazine as a regional “Top 100 Cable Power Player” in 2012 and 2013, she was also recognized as one of the “Most Powerful Women in Cable” by the magazine in 2008. In 2013 she was recognized by the Hartford Business Journal as a 2013 “Women in Business” honoree and was also honored with the 2013 Career Achievement award by the New England chapter of Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT). Additionally, in 2012, she was recognized as a “Visionary Woman of Excellence” by Unity First for her leadership and the inspiring example she sets for others, including many young women, students and emerging professionals. McLaughlin was also honored with the “Industry Leader of the Year” award in 2009 by the New England Chapter of WICT.

McLaughlin’s efforts extend beyond the workplace and into the community where she is a widely respected civic leader. She is a gubernatorial appointee to the Massachusetts Governor’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Taskforce, which is focused on increasing STEM career awareness among middle school students.  She also currently serves as co-chair of The Governor’s Prevention Partnership, a nonprofit public-private organization dedicated to keeping Connecticut youth safe, successful and drug-free, and she also sits on the Board of Directors for CPTV (Connecticut Public Television) and serves on the Vermont Business Roundtable.

A native of Massachusetts, McLaughlin graduated from Bridgewater State College and Suffolk University Law School.  She resides in Longmeadow, Massachusetts with her husband and two children.
