Pioneer Valley United Way appoints Savel head of fundraising

SPRINGFIELD – Carin Savel has been appointed senior vice president, Fundraising & Strategic Communications for United Way of Pioneer Valley.

She officially joined the leadership team on Feb. 3.

Savel will work closely with the President & CEO, Dora Robinson and the senior team to formulate and execute fundraising and communications strategies for the organization. She will also oversee all resource development initiatives.

Savel has worked in the nonprofit and government arenas for more than 25 years, bringing with her a broad understanding of the changing social and economic environments.

She has provided successful leadership in cause-related marketing, fundraising, public relations, corporate development, special events and board and volunteer relations.

A native of New York City, Savel relocated to North Carolina as vice president of Marketing & Communications for the United Way of Cumberland County.

After service to the United Way, Savel became the senior managing partner of CSpotRun, LLC, a fundraising and communications consulting firm, where she spearheaded campaigns for United Jewish Federated Charities, Airborne & Special Operations Museum Foundation, the North Carolina Arts Council, the North Carolina State Legislature, U.S. Congress, and the judiciary. She spent 10 years as senior policy advisor and Community Outreach director in the North Carolina House of Representatives.

Savel has been an avid community volunteer in North Carolina. She was faculty for Leadership Fayetteville, president of the Cumberland County League of Women Voters, and a founding member of the Women’s Giving Circle. She has also served on volunteer boards for the Salvation Army, National Public Radio, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Boys & Girls Club of Cumberland County, Beth Israel Synagogue, and the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County.

Savel graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in drama.
