SPRINGFIELD – Belmont Laundry and Custom Dry Cleaners, a full-service dry cleaning and laundry establishment based in Springfield, is pleased to announce the retirement of residential route driver, Fred Ramondetta, who has been with the organization since 1966.

“Fred has been with us for almost 50 years,” Robert Samble, owner of Belmont Laundry, said. “Belmont staff and our clientele are so thankful for his legendary customer service and we would not be where we are today without him.”

In a personal letter announcing his retirement, Ramondetta expressed mixed emotions about leaving a job he loves and provided some noteworthy perspective including the following: “When Belmont Laundry hired me to run one of their routes in 1966, Lyndon B. Johnson was president, gas was about 45 cents per gallon, and Belmont Laundry was doing men’s shirts for 28 cents apiece. I had no idea then, that the job would last for almost a half-century.”

The personal letter, delivered to all of his customers, concluded that although a new friendly face would greet them – pickup and delivery would remain the same.
