Real estate licensing course from RAPV starts April 5

SPRINGFIELD Beginning April 5, the Realtor Association of Pioneer Valley will sponsor a four-week, 11-class sales licensing course to help individuals prepare for the Massachusetts real estate salesperson license exam. The course will be completed on April 29. Tuition is $235 and includes books and materials.

The course outline includes property rights, ownership, condos, land use, contracts, deeds, financing, mortgages, real estate brokerage, appraisal, fair housing, consumer protection and Massachusetts License Law and more. Classes meet Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the association office, 221 Industry Ave. in Springfield.

The course is taught by practicing area real estate attorneys Gerald Berg, Mary Eaton, Joseph A. Pacella, Tracie Kester and Todd Ratner and math specialists Roland Joyal and James Nodurf.

The Realtor Association of Pioneer Valley also offers real estate license classes for Massachusetts brokers and agents who need to complete the Commonwealth's continuing education requirement to maintain an active license. The schedule of April 2010 classes and dates include:

April 12, 9 to 11 a.m., "Technology and Real Estate Brokerage"

April 12, 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., "Antitrust"

April 12, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., "Conducting Open Houses & Dev. Safety Plan"

April 26, 9 to 11 a.m., "Advertising"

April 26, 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., "Contract Law"

April 26, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., "Chapter 93A"

Massachusetts real estate brokers and sales agents who wish to maintain an active real estate license must complete 12 hours of continuing education every two years.
