EAST LONGMEADOW — Reminder Publications Inc. is taking the opportunity to celebrate its 50th year as an American business with a special publication honoring that which is Made In America and sold here in Western Massachusetts.

Made In America is the company's newest publication, which will feature local businesses and their products in a full-color catalog style booklet distributed in the weekly newspapers on June 25 — just in time for the Fourth of July.

"We wanted to recognize the fact that there are local businesses creating good quality products, made right here in our area and that those businesses are putting people to work to make those products," Daniel Buendo, co-publisher of Reminder Publications, said. "Finally, we wanted our readers to know where they can find these products and to go out and support those businesses."

Forty-five thousand copies will be distributed, thanks in part, to the Made In America's sponsor, Hampden Bank.

"We've always believed 'what goes around, comes around,'" Richard DeBonis of Hampden Bank, said. "And we believe the 'Made In America' campaign signifies an important 'first step' in helping the local economy because by supporting those local businesses that sell products made in the U.S.A. it eventually comes around to help save jobs, create jobs, and stimulate the local economy.

"Having our name associated with such a campaign simply reinforces our mission as a local community bank," he continued.

"Since 1852 Hampden Bank has supported the families, businesses and communities here in Western Massachusetts. To us, supporting the 'Made In America' campaign represents just one more way to keep this tradition going," DeBonis added.

Buendo credited Hampden Bank for making the publication possible. "Hampden Bank really stepped up to the plate on this project and they are actually paying a portion of every ad purchased by the businesses participating. For example, Hampden Bank is lowering the cost of half page ads by contributing $25 for each one and they are lowering the cost of each full-page ad by $50. This means every small business who participates will see a savings thanks to Hampden Bank," he explained.

Barbara Perry, vice president of sales at Reminder Publications, echoed Buendo's sentiments.

"Our hope is that this publication will show local consumers how easy it is to support American made products in our communities. We want to bring business to our communities and continue to help strengthen our local economy," she said.

Businesses interested in being featured in Made In America should contact Perry at 525-3247 ext. 135.

The deadline to participate is June 8 and the publication will reach readers on June 25.
