Dr. Steve Sobel, motivational speaker and educator, works with basketball players of all ages and is known as "The Shot Doctor." Living up to his name, he was chosen to take a half court shot at the Quinnipiac University-Vermont basketball game played Dec. 21. He hit the shot in front of the crowd and walked off with a prize. Sobel had to hit a three pointer, foul shot and a lay-up prior to being given the opportunity to take the big half courter. Sobel works out of Longmeadow and is the shooting coach for the Longmeadow boys basketball team and head coach of the Springfield Slamm of the Greater Springfield Pro-Am Basketball League.
