STCC offers RRP program training for contractors

Date: 12/28/2009

SPRINGFIELD The Center for Business and Technology (CBT) at Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) will provide training that will allow firms that are involved with renovation, repair or painting work in homes or child-occupied facilities such as day-care centers and schools built before 1978 to comply with a new EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Program Rule.

All contractors, renovators, remodelers, painters, maintenance workers and landlords who perform renovation, repair and painting that disturb lead-based paint in such facilities must have at least one "Certified Renovator" on staff by April 22, 2010. An individual who successfully completes this EPA-approved eight-hour program (or the four-hour refresher program if currently licensed as a lead abatement supervisor/firm) will become a "Certified Renovator" as required under the EPA (RRP) Program Rule.

Space is limited and applications are now being accepted. For more information and applications visit http://cbt.stcc.edu or call 755-4225 or 755-4502.
