STCC offers small business workshops

The Center for Business and Technology (CBT) at Springfield Technical Community College has announced that they will offer Voiceovers: Getting Paid to Talk, an introductory workshop on professional voice acting, on Oct. 3 from 6:30 - 9 p.m.

This exciting class will explore numerous aspects of voice-over work for television, film, radio, books on tape, documentaries and the Internet. Participants will be exposed to all of the basics including how to prepare the all-important demo and how to be successful and earn great income in this exciting field. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and to hear examples of demos recorded by professional voice actors.

Class participants will even have a chance to record a commercial script under the direction of our producer. This class is informative, lots of fun and a great first step for anyone interested in voice acting professionally.

CBT is also offering a wide variety of instructor-led and Web-based training opportunities for current and prospective entrepreneurs.

The popular four-session evening program, Starting Your Own Business, will begin on Oct. 3 and will include coverage of Planning Your Small Business, Financing Your Business, Are You Personally Ready to Start a Business?, and Taxes.

Other programs for current or potential small business owners that will be offered through the CBT in the upcoming term include: How to Buy and Sell Real Estate Wisely, Entrepreneurship: Starting Your Own Business, Learn to Buy and Sell on eBay, Start and Operate Your Own Home-Based Business, Creating a Successful Business Plan, Marketing Your Small Business, Quickbooks, and Marketing Your Business on the Internet.
